How long does council approval take?

Queensland doesn't use CDCs like NSW. You'll need a Building Approval from a licensed private certifier—often issued within 24 hours to a few days with complete documentation. Most Cairns residential pools don't need a Development Application unless your property has setback variations or special zone requirements.

When's the best time to install?

June to August—the dry season. Monthly rainfall drops to just 27–34mm versus 400mm+ during the wet season. Start by May to complete before November when the monsoon returns. Fibreglass pools install in 3–6 weeks, making dry-season completion straightforward.
