Do I need council approval in QLD?

Most residential pools in QLD don't require a council Development Application (DA) — provided your build meets standard siting requirements under the Queensland Development Code, including a 1.5 metre boundary setback. However, a Building Approval from a licensed private building certifier is mandatory for every pool in Queensland, regardless of size or location. Note that properties in flood, heritage, character, or environmental overlay zones may still require additional planning approval — check your property's overlays before proceeding.

How does delivery work?

Delivery to your kerb is included on all pool shells across Queensland. Your pool arrives in one piece on a truck, so you’ll need a local crane to lift it into place on your prepared base. Select your region above for local delivery details and current lead times.

Is Swimming Pool Kits Direct award-winning?

Yes. We won Gold for Online Pool Store at both the 2026 SPASA Queensland Awards of Excellence and the 2026 SPASA National Awards of Excellence.

How much can I save with a DIY pool kit in Queensland?

Most customers save $10,000 to $30,000 compared with a fully installed pool of the same size. The saving depends on your pool, your site and how much of the build you coordinate yourself.

What’s included in a Swimming Pool Kits Direct pool kit?
