How long does council approval take?

The ACT doesn't use council DAs or CDCs for pools. Instead, you'll need a Building Approval from a licensed private certifier, then a Certificate of Occupancy before use. The process is typically faster than traditional council pathways.

When's the best time to install?

September to October or February to March. You'll avoid frost risk (May–August can drop to -5°C), and a spring install means you're swimming by summer. Canberra's clay soils also behave better in these shoulder seasons.

Can I legally install it myself?
